Undergraduate Scholarship Criteria
This criteria is above the basic criteria for consideration for a departmental or college
scholarship and is specific for consideration for this scholarship.
Criteria:
1. Be currently enrolled as an undergraduate in the BSCE program with an interest
in structural engineering as a concentration and will be enrolled during the Fall
2014 semester.
NOTE: Students who are currently undergraduates, but will be a
graduate student during the upcoming Fall semester, will be considered
for the undergraduate scholarship, not the graduate scholarship.
2. Has completed CES 3102 with a grade of “B” or better.
3. Has completed or is currently enrolled in 2 or more structural engineering courses
(CES or equivalent) at the 4000 level or higher.
4. Be a participating member of the UF Student Chapter of the Florida Structural
Engineers Association, as verified by membership records maintained by the
Chapter, and as certified to by the faculty advisor to the chapter.
5. Be a registered Student Member of the Florida Structural Engineers Association,
as verified by membership records maintained by the Association.
6. Have a cumulative undergraduate 3.00 grade point average.
7. Submit an essay of not less than 400 words, but not more than 500 words that
describes their reasons for wanting to pursue a career in structural engineering
and how they are preparing for this career. Essay is to be submitted in electronic
form as a Word file to the Chair of the CCE Department. File must include the
applicant’s last name in the file name (such as SMITH.docx). The essay will be
reviewed by the faculty advisor and a member of the Northeast Chapter of FSEA
who is designated by the Northeast Chapter president.
